![]() 24th...big day! I got my first does of the Pfizer vaccine!!! They moved teachers up on the list to help with fully opening schools. Not gonna lie, I am still super anxious but this helps me feel a little safer- along with my face mask, face shield, constant washing and disinfecting hands and surfaces, spaced out seating AND dividers...just gotta keep us all safe til the end of May then I can relax for a little bit. This has been such a stressful year, with the pandemic, and moving, teaching remote and face to face at the same time, worrying about Covid, and working through the loss of a close friendship- I need this summer to find my peace again. I wasn't sure how I would be able to fill 3 pages every day in my morning pages, but it goes so fast- before I know it the words are on the page and my soul is lighter! I do have to make the effort to get up just a little bit earlier, which can be tough some mornings. If I get up by 5:30 I can take a shower, get ready, run downstairs and take care of the cats and then go back upstairs and do my writing. Something that I look forward to even more is my Sunday morning time when I really focus on bringing the week's pages together. That is the time when I scribble, doodle, collage and sticker til my heart is content. It doesn't matter HOW LATE I stat up the night before (which Friday and Saturday nights is at least 2-3am) I am up, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed by 7:30am at the latest. (oh trust me, I crash later...Sunday naps are also a favorite) John sleeps in, so this is my uninterrupted quiet time to really focus- and I really cherish this time with the week's pages. ![]() Scenes from my special Sunday morning time...I only share this time with Mackie, sometimes Milky if he wants to nap by my feet. I love how my writing and ramblings are wearing this book, making it loved and worn. I am color coding the weeks, each week is a different color so I can track my weeks in this book study. I decided to revisit my 'Fashion Grind' series from April 2020 for February. I actually hadn't planned on it, even though I really did love that series, but I had not planned on revisiting it at this time. Eventually I knew I would, however the universe had other plans. I had a woman contact me after seeing my work up at Port City Java asking about some commissions, which was obviously really exciting. My only thing is...I needed to be back 'in the vibe' of that series. It is hard for me to just do one piece from a previous series, I need to immerse myself back in it...so I chose to do that by revisiting the series for this month. Here's a refresher on what that first series looked like; In addition to the coffee paintings, I had to decide about what to do for my sewing side project this month...which I really need to come up with a better name for...I digress. Last month I started off with the bare cotton canvas, but I hand painted some watered down acrylic on there. My thinking was I would go through the rainbow of colors in ROYGBIV order, but of course starting off with pink before my red. So for this month's piece I went into that red, and added a pink heart from some hand dyed fabrics I made in grad school and have been holding onto for years. And of course if just happened to go with a Valentine's day color scheme, and I do love a holiday! |
