![]() Tomorrow marks 100 days that I have committed to making art. Every single, stinkin' day. Now, the challenge was to just be creative everyday. But me...gotta make it a little tougher...create an additional challenge. I chose to make a piece of art every day. And honestly, some days I made several pieces, or worked on some things that took a few days. But I did it, I was creative every day. I made art every day. So one thing that I did tonight was to sit down and create an on-line event for my friends on Facebook. The idea is that in lieu of a physical gathering to celebrate this 100th day of art making... ...side note, I do feel like I want to celebrate it, it's a big deal for me artistically and personally... ...anyway, getting everyone together, not an option. So I created the event, it's a 24-hour time period for folks to raise a glass (of whatever, could be a coffee or juice, that's cool) and celebrate with me...and take a picture to document it. I am hoping to gather the pictures together and combine them with the art/art-making pics from these 100 days into some kind of slideshow or something. Not sure what yet. I will figure that out tomorrow. It was weird finishing my CED #99 so early. I mean, I had it ready to go at 12am this morning. So I planned some of the pieces for this week and did some prep work, looked for inspiration for the Star Wars paintings I am going to create for the show at the Green Room...and tonight I sat down and started my teeny tiny work for the 'Self-Portrait Project'. (below) This is a project through the Art House Co-Op. I did their 'Sketchbook Project' in 2009 (I think that was the date) and it was pretty cool, my sketchbook went on the gallery tour with all the other works. I got a chance to see it in a gallery in Chicago, and John and I even turned it into a chance to visit his cousin and her husband. So...anyway...just some randomness that is going through my mind. Getting observed tomorrow, so I better get some sleep!

...just in case I don't get a chance to post again on Easter (it's 1:22am on Easter morning now)...here is the making of CEDs 98-99! ![]() So..finished my CED #97 pretty early today, a Peppermint Sweet Thang, by 2:00...found my oil pastels, made a pink-haired dame...and had a very productive art night with my friend Jessie...I mean, who doesn't love making clay candy and assorted sweets in full costume jewelry? ![]() As in Old School Square. After some spring cleaning, and ANOTHER Gironda 'tire issue' (insert big sigh) John and I headed down to Delray to deliver my painting for the PBCATA show at Old School Square. We figured we might as well make a day of it, so we walked around, had some lunch and some coffee. Aside from the car trouble, it was a good day. Looking forward to the reception this Wednesday (April 11th from 5:30-7:00) Yes, a shameless plug! I also finished up my CED #96 this evening. It reminded me of a piece I did in January, and then I looked through my March pieces and found a few more profile/person facing something views so I compiled them into one grouping of pictures (below). Kind of interesting to see that certain compositions or ideas will reappear in my work without me really making a conscious decision. Tomorrow...or this weekend...or whenever it happens...I need to finish up Paul's commission, start some pieces for two shows at the Green Room in Fort Lauderdale, maybe make some funky cupcake paintings...and...wait, just gonna try to tackle these items...
'Octojess' is done. I re-vised the 'in-process' pics to show the final stages and then...the final piece!
![]() There are still some shreds of daylight left... My CED is complete for today. Could it be...that I might go t sleep before 12? Naw... Workin' on a little side piece...a big-eyed lady with an octopus on her head. Not sure when I will finish it. Not sure why I feel compelled to create it (actually, I have several ideas) but I guess I will work on that some this evening... Inspired by Thiebaud's 'Four Cupcakes'...that girl has cupcakes on her head. CED #93....get yer sweet tooth ready!
So how did I spend the last day of the month? (Yesterday, I mean) Hanging out with pretty gals in big floppy hats at the end of the year party for the cheerleaders. Meeting up with my friend Jessie to pick up art for a show later in the month. (The pieces that I am donating are shown below in my windowsill.) Having a fun 'art on the deck' night with Kristen, overlooking Fort Lauderdale...watching her paint wine glasses tentatively at first and then inspired and excited while I finished the final touches on my CEDs for the month and my self portrait. ...and so...it ends. March is over. I completed CEDs 89-91. My self portrait for the month is done. Looking to the new month ahead of me...the suggested Creative Every Day theme is 'Language'. My theme for the next ANE show is 'Pop Art'. I am more inspired by the ANE theme...looking to the works of Wayne Thiebaud and Claes Oldenburg...specifcally taking inspiration from their use of 'sweet' imagery. ...some notes to myself...I have got to sit down and organize these pictures. I have over a hundred new works of art that I have created since January and the photos of the finished works and the process...it is getting out of hand. Waaaaay outta hand. As in...crazy chaos. I was pulling pictures for the slideshow below and it was tough...the pics are out of order, which bothers me, but I am going to try to be okay with it. Sigh. Three-day work week...maybe I can make some time to organize all of this art! |
