Humor me, please...click here. It had to be done, now I can properly introduce my new series for November 2015...'November Blue!' This month it is going to be all about monochromatic blue. So far I am working with acrylic on canvas, but I may or may not stick with that for the entire month. One thing is for sure, I will maintain the color scheme...and probably the size/dimensions...cause it drives me a little bonkers when my art within a monthly series is different sizes. This isn't my first time working with a monochromatic series within my monthly pieces. In May of 2012 I was working with the prompt of 'one', which I interpreted as one color- hence, monochromatic. (well, one color and the tints, tones and shades) I completed all blue drawings on paper for the month. Wanna see? Click here to view May 2012 images. When I was working on my first piece in the series, I had an Avett Brothers song in my head- 'November Blue'. I love that song...love TAB...scribbled some of the lyrics on my painting. At the time I wasn't sure if I was going to commit to monochromatic blue AND all Avett Brothers-related paintings. As much as I love TAB, I decided that the color blue wouldn't necessarily fit all of their songs so instead today I had the idea to incorporate different songs by various artists that either mention the word 'blue' in the title, or feature a significant lyric that mentions 'blue'. Now, I'm no slouch when it comes to music- I love music, multiple genres, but it always helps to get a little help so I enlisted several of my 'music guru' friends (ya'll know who you are!) and the result was a huge amount of texts back and forth which I then used to compile a spreadsheet with each person listed and their suggestions...'cause I'm nerdy like that. The second piece was the suggestion of my girl, Gin, out in Colorado. She mentioned some lyrics from 'Sorry I am', an Ani DiFranco song we both love...so I used that. Rock on, ya Righteous Babe you! And I have more insights on the significance of the theme for this month...but its getting late and I need o get ready for my show installation tomorrow...so something's gotta give. More bloggin' later!
